Film Review - Veronica Mars (2014)

On Blu Ray and DVD - "Veronica Mars" - (2014) -   Kristen Bell’s titular former high-school detective returns to her hometown to clear her ex-lover’s name when faced with a murder charge- happenings also (conveniently) coincide with her 10 year reunion to spice things up a bit.

A lower-budgeted result of a Kickstarter project, the film bears the aesthetic and feel of a slightly above average Drama/Mystery TV pilot.  It’s interesting enough, has its share of witty dialogue and Bell is certainly charismatic, though I’m not so sure the flick has an ounce of replay value.  A stronger, more dynamic climax may have worked wonders.

I watched this because I, much like my Father, have recently developed a “thing” for Kristen Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) - she’s still sporting some post baby-weight here and the curvaceousness is glorious!  I must admit to have never watched any of the episodes of the TV show that this film is a continuation of and could only wing my way through recognizing “returning” characters and series-specific aspects.  Fans of the show will more than likely feel more rewarded than those going in with no prior attachments.

Keep a lookout for an absolutely hilarious cameo from a certain goofball looking to garner our heroine’s attention on the dance floor.

And, oh yeah, Tina Majorino’s hair is pretty damned awesome.

***Of Note*** Fans are referred to as "Marshmallows".  You can see Kristen Bell stuff her mouth with the larger-sized whipped delights here!  Impressive!
