Review- Source Code
At the Theater - Source Code - Director Duncan Jones follows up the terrific "Moon" with an intelligent and entertaining Sci-Fi/Mystery/Thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan. I was pleasantly surprised in how it skillfully avoided being tedious- the twists are actually refreshing.
The story is handled with care- what could have been a monotonous nightmare of plot-holes and pitfalls is instead kept in keen order by a tightly-written script. I was beginning to think it was a dead art in the realm of Sci-Fi. I don't like delving too much into plots, but time travel really isn't going on here, people.
Gyllenhall pulls off the more emotional aspects of his role quite nicely, while Monaghan is serviceably cute. Vera Farmiga and Jeffrey Wright put in solid work. Might just end up as a largely unseen gem of 2011- and that would be a crime.
